Expanded Walk-In Shower for Comfortable Aging in Place

This project was completed for a wonderful senior couple who wanted a safer, more comfortable, and easier-to-use shower as they continued enjoying their home.

Their existing shower felt cramped and difficult to navigate, so the goal was to create a larger walk-in space that would provide better accessibility, improved comfort, and peace of mind for years to come.

We expanded the shower from approximately 3’ x 4’ to 3’ x 9’, creating a spacious open layout with plenty of room to move comfortably. The project included complete demolition, plumbing modifications, custom waterproofing, installation of a built-in bench, safety grab bars, recessed niches, and a handheld shower system for easier everyday use.

The walls were finished with elegant 12” x 24” porcelain tile, complemented by a decorative pebble shower floor that adds both character and slip resistance.

The finished result is a beautiful, functional walk-in shower that combines accessibility, safety, and modern design while allowing the homeowners to comfortably enjoy their bathroom for many years to come.
